2008 Finalists (Posted 2/1/08) WildSeed
have again secured a finalist position in the 2008 Australian Country Music "People's
Choice Awards". They're up for "Best Group or Duo" against Carter
& Carter, Jetty Road, Jonah's Road, The McClymonts, The Noll Brothers, Simply
Bushed, Sunny Cowgirls,Tall Timbre & Wolverines. WildSeed will be performing
5 shows at this year's Tamworth CM Festival. Check out the "Gigs"page
for details. New Clip on CMC (Posted 30/12/07) WildSeed's new video clip "My Friend" is now officially on the CMC playlist. To request the clip, follow the link on our homepage. Grabine Country Muster (Posted 3/12/07) After hearing about the awesome success of last year's inaugural event, WildSeed just had to throw their collective hats in for this one. WildSeed closed the show after Steve Forde's set to a crowd ready and willing to kick on. Originally booked to open the show at around 6pm, the band quickly reviewed their setlist after learning they'd be hitting the stage sometime around midnight. There were also great performances earlier from Brittle Jack, Rebecca Lee Nye, Paul Costa, Lee Forster & Shea Fisher. Peter Pratt performed a "Breakfast Show" the following morning. For more photos check out the "pics" page. New Video Filmed (Posted 5/10/07) WildSeed have just completed the filming of their new video clip, "MY FRIEND". Produced by Duncan Toombs, the clip will be released shortly to coincide with the radio single. WildSeed have never been a band to shy away from a little controversy, and their latest release is testament to this. The song is loosely based on a friend of the band who unfortunately became entangled in some serious drug and alcohol issues. "Some of the scenes we shot were pretty intense", the band said. "We realise the clip may be a little confronting but believe these issues are too important to ignore". Editing has begun and it's anticipated that the video will be added to the CMC playlist in November. A Sensational Gympie Muster (Posted 17/9/07) No amount of rain could dampen our spirits during the Muster. Enthusiastic crowds packed all the venues we performed at. Muster Club on Tuesday, The Muster Tavern on Wednesday and Legends Wine Bar on Thursday. Our on-stage experiences were enhanced by the many other artists we saw in our spare time. It was great to hook up with our good mates "Strum" as well as forming new friendships with many others. A special thanks to Mike Beale from "Men In Blues" who assisted us greatly at our Wine Bar gig after we ran into some difficulties. We'll be throwing our hat in next year for sure! New Guitarist for WildSeed (Posted 1/3/07) After much searching and many auditions we've finally found our newest family member Andrew Parker. Andrew, originally form Queensland, is settling in nicely and has already performed some awesome gigs with the band. We'll be back in the studio soon in preparation for album # 2. 2007 Tamworth Festival a Success (Posted 29/1/07) We had an absolute ball at the 2007 Tamworth Country Music Festival. Where to start? The beginning might be a good idea! Arrived on Friday 19 and were very happy/relieved to see our "modest" accommodation was actually a very nice air conditioned house with heaps of room. After quickly unpacking we headed for Peel St to see what the vibe was like down there. Things were hotting up with many buskers doing their thing and most pubs pumping. Somewhat bittersweet for us knowing that the majority of our gigs were on the outskirts of town and had no idea how many punters if any, would show up at our shows. Later that night Kim & Al decided to hit Peel St again while the rest of us kicked back at the house. Although Al had planned on seeing as many acts as possible he & Kim couldn't drag themselves away from the sensational band "The Distance" (more on these guys later). Our first gig was on Saturday arvo at North Tamworth Bowlo. Not a bad turnout considering the club's proximity to town coupled with our relative "newness" to Tamworth. Thanks to Vanessa, Dave, Grizz and friends for your support. Sunday was a free day. Plenty of time to chill out and catch up with friends. Briefly caught up with our ex guitarist/mando player Glenn Skarratt at the Fitzroy. The Fitz had "Tall Timbre" on and it was great to catch up with our mates Dave Hibbert (drums) and Bryen Willems (guitar) as well as Vicki (Dave's missus) and Brian from Cooks River Motor Boat Club. Earlier that evening Al insisted that we check out "The Distance" again at the Albert. Man!.... These guys rock! It was also great to share and compare our experiences with these blokes who as it turns out are absolute gentlemen. No big heads here. Just lots of heart and music to suit. Check em out! Monday was a big day. It started with a radio interview at 101.5 Festival FM with Jamie. We managed to get through the interview without a "Geoff debacle". (Geoff the offensive!). 2pm was our 2nd Norths gig and the numbers were better than the first. Was the promotional campaign actually working? Thanks to all that bought albums. Al can have that eyebrow transplant now! A special thank you to Nick & Joan who made a detour from Queensland on their way to Sydney to see us perform. Later that night was our first West Tam Bowlo gig. We had a very small and sedate-but-appreciative audience during our first set. During the break the guys from The Distance and their entourage arrived and certainly livened things up. These guys rock even when their not on stage! Thanks to Gavin, Darren, Mitchell, Rob & Jim (and associated friends and extended family) for your support. You ain't seen the last of us! Tuesday was a great opportunity for us to sleep in before getting ready for the TIARA awards which started at 1:00pm at West's League Club. We had a top 5 finalist placing and although deep down we knew we weren't gonna win, we were hopeful. We were very happy to see Luke O'Shea & Medicine Wheel bring it home (in our category of Group Award). Well done guys - bridesmaids no more! Wednesday was a totally free day and we managed to catch quite a few acts between us. Highlights here included Red Hot Poker Dots, Johnny Green's Blues Cowboys and anyone that happened to be up Peel St that night. Thursday was our People's Choice Awards day. The show started at 1:30pm and our hosts Bob Kirchner, Leanne and Emily had organised a pre-show reception in the foyer with some of the other performers and finalists. We certainly made some new friends before, during and after the show. Unfortunately we didn't win any category but the winners were very deserving and we wish them all the best. There were some fantastic performances. Our 2 song spot seemed to finish before it started and we could have easily gone on for another half hour! (Which is probably what all the other performers thought!) Jim (Geoff's brother), and his wife Dulcie had arrived earlier that day and wasted no time in taking some awesome photos with his awesome camera and even more awesome lens. (Jim's handy work can be viewed on our "Pics" page.) Thanks again to Vanessa and Dave for coming along to support us and Jonah's Road. Friday was another huge day. A 3 set gig followed by a 2 setter immediately afterwards. The first show was at South Tamworth Bowlo. A top little spot and although it's a bit out of town, has a great vibe and we had no trouble in pulling an excellent crowd. Thanks to all the Cooks River dancers that came along to support us. We had the added bonus of picking up a couple of gigs during the show. Peter from Port Stephens was in the audience and was so impressed that he invited us back to the Port Stephens Country Music Festival on the spot. The booker from a well known RSL Club was also present and invited us to perform there as well. After the show we had to pack up our PA as well as all our stage gear and head over to West Tam Bowlo to set the whole lot up again. We managed to do all this and muster the energy to perform our usual dynamic show as well. Dave and Vicki Hibbert dropped in and we were happy for Dave to hop on the drum seat for a couple of songs. It's not often that Geoff gets to play harmonica without simultaneously playing drums. Thanks Dave! Saturday was reasonably free but by now things were becoming a bit of a blur. The girls hit the hair salon in preparation for the Golden Guitars that night. The guys had a bit of a wander and ended up at the Locomotive Hotel to catch another Tall Timbre set. The wind almost blew the gigantic tarp to oblivion! That night was our first GG awards and a very flash affair it was indeed! The pre-show reception was a good chance to schmooz with some of our new (and old) friends. Although we didn't have any finalist placings it was great to see our name in the program as nominees in no less than 4 categories. Looking forward to seeing the awards on tele. Sunday is generally a wind-down day at Tamworth but we still had one gig to play. When we rolled up at South Tam Bowlo, our host Owen remarked on the "mass exodus" that was steaming out of town. This led us to believe that we were in for a pretty quiet time. It soon became apparent by the many folk filing in that this would be a great afternoon. We even managed to convert a local lady that assured us that she didn't like country music! This was a fantastic end to our very successful "bowl 'em over tour". Later that day we met up with Dave and Vicki for dinner and a spot of Red Hot Poker Dots at Joe Macquire's pub. Well that's it in a nutshell. Nothing too outrageous. (Nothing we're gonna print here anyway!) We had an absolute ball, made some new friends and we're very much looking forward to next year's festival. Finally a HUGE thank you to Kim for looking after the merch stand and generally putting up with us. (Yes it was the Cavalcade!) Luv you Kimmy. New video added to CMC (Posted 27/12/06) Our new video, "Don't Lie To Me" has been added to the Country Music Channel playlist. At the time of posting this item, CMC have decided to play every single video they have in alphabetical order until the New Year. Apart from being a novel thing for them to do, it's a good way to give their staff some well earned R & R during the festive season while the channel runs on autopilot. Once normal programming resumes, please don't hesitate to request both our clips in the usual way. Both video clips are available for download as QuickTime files from this website. TIARA Top 5 Finalists (Posted 10/12/06) Tamworth is certainly shaping up to be a great experience for the band. It's been announced that we're top 5 finalists in the "Tamworth Independent Artist Recognition Awards" (TIARA's). The showcase and awards presentations will be held at West Tamworth League Club at 1pm on Tuesday, January 23. WildSeed Multi Top 5 Finalists (Posted 4/12/06) Well it's official. We've managed to make it to the top 5 finalist positions in 3 categories of the People's Choice Awards. The categories are Best Group or Duo, Best Song for "The Fire" and Best Album. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in Tamworth at the Regent Theater on Thursday 25th Jan 2007. The organisers of the event have also invited the band to perform at the awards. This comes as a welcome addition to our "Bowling Club" tour during the 2007 Country Music Festival. Thank you to all that voted for us. Gotta love "People Power"! WildSeed Multi Top 10 Finalists (Posted 22/11/06) We have just been advised that WildSeed are multi top 10 finalists in the 2007 Australian Country Music Peoples Choice Awards !!! As it stands we are finalists in no less than four categories. (Best Group or Duo, Best Song, Best Album and Most Promising Future Star). All categories will be culled to top 5's by December 1. Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to be included in at least one of these. To all of you that took the time to vote, a huge thank you. Single #4 released to Radio (Posted 26/09/06) Our new radio single "Don't Lie To Me" has just been released. The response from many radio stations has been fantastic with lots of presenters instantly adding it to their playlists. The song is very catchy and upbeat and certainly has a good chance of making it into the radio airplay charts. The band has a video planned to coincide with the single and will be filmed early October. Video @ 38 in the Top 50 Charts (Posted 06/09/06) "The Fire" entered the CMC Top 50 chart at #48 about four weeks ago. Since then it has been steadily rising to #41 peaking at #35 before dropping back to #41. It has now climbed 3 places to #38. Hopefully we can keep an upward trend going. "The Fire" Video on CMC (Posted 21/07/06) Our long awaited video is now enjoying regular screenings on Foxtel's/Austar's Country Music Channel. A huge thank you from Didy, Geoff, Alan & Dave for those who have been requesting the video. CMC's request segment has now started airing the clip as well as their "cutting edge", "Prime Time" and "Saturday Night Party"shows. Our goal is to get into the Top 30 Country Video Charts and hopefully climb up. To find out how to make a request simply go back to our home page and click on the banner. Cooks River MBC (Posted 26/06/06) After some uncertainty about their future, we finally got back to Cooks River Motor Boat Club. It was absolutely fantastic! When we arrived it was like a homecoming! The staff all had WildSeed T shirts on (left) and were very glad to see us. It was a great evening. This has got to be one of the most happening venues in Sydney. Where else can you go on a Sunday evening, listen to free entertainment as well as enjoy a free barbecue? Not just a token feed, but a real hearty meal with all the trimmings. Just sensational! All they ask in return is that you purchase some raffle tickets for the HUGE seafood tray. The secret to why they can afford this is that the staff are volunteers. Something we very much appreciate. Thanks guys. Please support this wonderful venue. Not just when we play there. Watch the gig guide in "Drum Media" for updates. Port Stephens Country Music Festival (Posted 15/06/06) We recently performed at the Inaugural Port Stephens Country Music Festival. The reception was extremely warm and the memory of the smiles on all those faces will certainly be a lasting one. We shared the stage with a top duo called "Garden Party". Rob & John were excellent to work with. Thanks fellas. Looking forward to next year's event. Video (Posted 29/05/06) Our new video "The Fire" is in the can and ready for TV. It will be aired on Foxtel's Country Music Channel in a few weeks. For those without pay TV we've also submitted a copy to"rage". They have an online playlist index that is updated every Friday so the exact time of the telecast is listed. Also, keep an eye on our website because we will eventually have the full video available as a QuickTime download so you can have your very own copy. Thanks to Lee and Annie (Ross' crew) who were wonderful. They really looked after us. Also thanks to Sarah for assisting and to Steve for lending us your Mustang and letting Al abuse it for art's sake! Album (Posted 25/01/06) Our self titled album "WildSeed", is finished and is now available at HMV, Leading Edge, and JB Hi Fi record stores. If they don't have it, their friendly staff will be more than happy to order it in for you.You can also order online or just come to one of our shows and we'd be happy to look after you Thank You Thanks to all those that come to support us especially our #1 fans (& neighbours), Mick & Annette, Kim, Sarah, Rob & Brooke, Jim & Dulcie, Peter & Annie, Mel & Andrew, Pete, Bobbie & the kids, Norma, Lawrence & Natasha, Andrea & Josie, Laurie, Donno, Chris Pap, Debbie & Andre, Veronica, Lou, Shane & Janis, Allan & Lorraine, Carol & Trevor, Jenny & Terry, Belinda, Tate, Denno, Blacky, The Zaps (Craig, Beth, Dylan & Nathan), David F, Janet & Greg, Julie, David & Liv B, Ronnie & Maria.
